Just when you thought that Kiwis had the pandemic under control comes latest news of four new cases of community transmitted COVID-19 on Tuesday.

This puts a damper to the celebrations that the whole nation took part in just 24 hours earlier. New Zealand was seen as the model case of how to deal with the pandemic with no incident being recorded in 100 days.

However with the latest update, Auckland has been placed back on stage 3 measures for the next three days. Rest of the country will remain on stage 2 lockdown. As per the government regulations, bars , restaurants and other businesses will remain closed in stage 3. Gatherings will once again be restricted to 10 people with travel in and out of Auckland prohibited.

The gambling community will no doubt be affected by these latest developments as well. SkyCity’s premier casino in Auckland will therefore remain closed while their other properties in Hamilton and Queenstown will operate as normal.

Graeme Stephens, CEO of SkyCity Entertainment had the following to say” SkyCity is fully complying with this latest update from the New Zealand government. SkyCity is well prepared to respond quickly to these changes and is in a strong financial position to withstand the financial impacts of these temporary restrictions,”
